Holiday Happenings Near Erie, PA

Even though Erie, Pennsylvania, is known for its many wonderful summer activities, that doesn’t mean the fun stops there.  Deja Blue Cottage and Blue Chill Cottage, located in Waterford, just outside of Erie, are waterfront homes waiting for any year-round vacation with friends or family. With the year winding down and the holidays getting closer, it may be time to get away from all the hustle and bustle to enjoy some fun, festive, and family-friendly holiday events in Erie, Pennsylvania. 

Presque Isle is known for its sandy beaches, but did you know they display holiday lights in the Winter? Weekends until December 29, Presque Isle Lights will take over the island to display fun holiday lights and displays. This display is weather-dependent, so it is best to check their website for updates in case of closures. Admission for the light display is free, but donations are highly encouraged. During the drive-thru, guests are encouraged to turn to Classy 100 “Christmas Station” to listen to seasonal tunes while they enjoy the lights. For a more sophisticated night out, Warner Theatre features two showings of The Nutcracker, presented by The Lake Erie Ballet Company. Advanced tickets are required and can be purchased online. There will be an evening show on Saturday, December 21st at 7 pm and a matinee show on Sunday, December 22nd at 2 pm. Additional details about the show can be found on the Warner Theatre website.

For a different kind of holiday experience, check out Asbury Woods Winter Wonderland. This outdoor walking experience features holiday lights along the Boardwalk Trail. The Nature Center will also have a holiday-themed train display and gift shop. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Asbury Woods Winter Wonderland occurs daily from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm until December 30, excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
