The so-called “winter blues” are starting to kick in now that the holidays are over. Why not kick off the new year at Creekside Cabin in Markleysburg? This cozy cabin is close to many Laurel Highlands popular destinations, such as Ohiopyle, Falling Water, Kentuck Knob, and Yough Lake. At this cabin, there is tons of privacy and an outdoor hot tub, and it sits next to a creek for a subtle view of water.

Bittersweet Cafe is a local farm-to-table cafe in Farmington, Pennsylvania, only a short drive from the cabin. With an outside deck for warmer months and charming, rustic interior decor, there is no doubt you’ll feel right at home at this local cafe. 

Lindsay, General Manager of Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals, recently enjoyed some delectable dishes from Bittersweet Cafe. The breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, potatoes, and the “Be Humble” latte were delightful! 

 

With their food being locally sourced, this means their menu rotates. This allows for better quality ingredients and optimal freshness served to their guests. They are open year-round, but their hours may change, so we suggest checking their website. Whether you want to stop for one of their freshly made baked goods, salads, or even breakfast, there is something for every tastebud! Bittersweet Cafe also offers a variety of drinks, including smoothies, teas, and different coffee beverages. Some drinks can be made hot for those cold winter days! Lemonade, milk, hot chocolate, and other beverages are also offered for those who do not drink caffeine. They also have a family cat named Bob, who roams around the cafe and is very sweet to their guests. 

In the warmer months, they have a pop-up cafe spot called Bittersweet at the Falls in Ohiopyle on the corner of Lincoln and Parkview. This location offers a small taste of Bittersweet Cafe, which includes wraps, a seasonal selection of fruit, and different drinks.
